Oak Technologies
is your resource for "end-of-life" support. We provide
three support options:
- Repair
- Refurbishment
- Replacement
Our many years
of design experience provides an intimate familiarity with technology
from the 1950's through current day. Whether you have a 1KW vacuum
tube CO2 laser or a micro miniature surface mounted process controller,
we have the expertise!
Several facts
may sway your sunset decision:
- Is the unit
repairable?
- Are parts
available?
- Can I upgrade
a legacy unit with modern capabilities?
- Do I have
the facilities, staff and infrastructure required for bringing
a new capability online, while maintaining production?
When repairing
a legacy unit, exact replacement parts may not be in production.
Our relationships with NOS (New Old Stock) distributors is a first
resort. Should that approach fail, we can resort to substitution.
Substitution requires additional attention, detailing the operational
parameters and form factor prior to selecting replacement technology.
Substitution is readily performed at the component and possible
the board level.
Substitution
of a subsystem, falls under a category called refurbishment. Refurbishing
a unit, requires an exact definition of interfaces and functional
specifications. Since this is a more extensive process, you may
wish to consider enhancing the functionality, especially if new
designs are required.
We can also
help when replacing equipment. Since this decision requires an intimate
knowledge of your processes and products, it is best performed by
you. However, we can assist in assessing unit performance and lifetime.
We also assist clients by providing a second look at the manufacturer
suggested spare provisioning and maintenance logistics.
